Thursday marks the start of an important stretch for video game fans.

The Summer Game Fest, streaming live on both YouTube and Twitch, kicked off with a special stream revealing several video game announcements. 

The Summer Game Fest precedes the Electronic Entertainment Expo, which returns after a year off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, the event will be online only with a variety of briefings from companies including Microsoft and Nintendo.

June is a critical month for the industry, as gamers await what new titles will grace their Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch consoles this holiday and beyond.

Elden Ring is very real

What happens when you bring fantasy author George R.R. Martin, author of The Game of Thrones series, with the studio behind Dark Souls and Bloodborne? A new fantasy adventure called Elden Ring. It launches in January 21, 2022.

“With Elden Ring, we have applied all our dark fantasy and action-RPG expertise cultivated throughout the Dark Souls series, in order to create a bold, classical evolution of the genre,” said Hidetaka Miyazaki, Director at FromSoftware, in a statement.

Back 4 Blood: From the creators of Left 4 Dead

Fighting zombies never gets old, especially if you do it with friends. Turtle Rock Studios, which features creators behind the Valve Software classic Left 4 Dead, showcased their latest game Back 4 Blood. It launches for PCs and consoles in October.

Endless Dungeon

This action game leaves players trapped on a mysterious space station, recruiting teammates and fighting off monsters trying to destroy a precious crystal in your possession.

Fast & Furious speeds back onto Rocket League

The video game Rocket League will get new and returning Fast & Furious content beginning June 17 including the Dodge Charger and a collection of new Fast & Furious themed items.

Dom would be so proud. A new bundle of vehicles from the blockbuster film franchise Fast & Furious will return to Rocket League, Psyonix confirmed. The bundle is available on all platforms June 17.

Smite meets Stranger Things

The third-person multiplayer online game is teaming up with Netflix’s signature science-fiction series Stranger Things for its upcoming season.

Solar Ash

The latest adventure from Annapurna Interactive is a third-person action game where players traverse sunken cities, water shelves and areas filled with lava. It’s out later this year for PC and PlayStation.

Two Point Campus takes you back to school

The creators of simulation game Two Point Hospital is back with a new game set within a university, called Two Point Campus. You can create the ideal school with the perfect student body. It launches in 2022 for PCs and consoles. 

A Season 4 tease for Call of Duty: Warzone

Here’s your first taste of Season 4 of Call of Duty: Warzone, which kicks off on June 17. More details on what’s coming in the new season is expected on June 14.

Among Us gets Hide and Seek mode

If you are still among those playing the hit multiplayer game Among Us, some fun changes are coming soon. Among them: a new game mode called Hide and Seek, special gear to add to your visor, a new map and achievements.
